IOTW: Expert Belt

Since most of you seemed to enjoy my narrative syle article from last week, I'm doing it again. This time we'll look at the Expert Belt.

~

Life as a master theif was never easy for a Meowth like you, but it's getting even harder. Times are changing. Cameras. Motion sensors. Digital Locks. Every second that passes brings your profession closer to extinction. So it's time to gather up the team for one last heist.

IOTW: Choice Scarf

I'm going to try something a little different with this article. It's going to be in more of a narrative form than a purely informational one like usual. I just thought you might like something a bit lighter in your Pokéreading. It still has all of the details and mechanics of the item like you are looking for, but just in the package of a little story. If you do or don't like it, please leave feedback in the comments. I'll do some more like this if you like it, and stop if you hate it. So here it goes, a story about Choice Scarf.

IOTW: Macho Brace

An odd item to focus on in terms of battle uses, I know, but stick with me. We're going to look at the advantages of the Macho Brace, and not even the ones regarding EV training ones.

Macho Brace's most common use is for speeding up EV training, because it doubles the EVs that the holder earns. What I'm going to focus on in this article is what most consider its negative side effect, that it halves the holder's speed.

IOTW: Red Card

This item, the Red Card, is new to Gen V. There are few people who have heard of it, and there are even fewer Pokémon sources who have written about its potential in battle. Walp, I'm here to hook you up with the deets (as in details. Look at me, using the lingo.) Pokémon Podcast is about to shoot your face full of facts, and probably facts you haven't heard before.

IOTW: Life Orb

Sup, Pokégals and Pokébros. Item of the Week up in hizzle. I forgot about writing this until 12:31 AM the morning that I have to write this. Here's to hoping I find my muse in this twilight hour.

For those unfamiliar, the Life Orb boosts the strength of all attacks by 30%, at the cost of 10% of your HP for every attack you make. This is essentially God's (or should it be Arceus'?) gift to mixed sweepers. Where physical and special sweepers have choice band and specs, respectively, the closest thing a mixed sweeper can have is the Life Orb. The choice items boost attack by 50%, but restrict you to one move. The Life Orb doesn't get you stuck on one move, so you can switch from a physical to a

IOTW: Eviolite

I know what you are thinking. "What the Bulbasaur is an Eviolite?" That's what I thought too. Then I read into it a little. This tricky little item increases the defense and special defence of a Pokémon that is not fully evolved by 50%. In some instances, this doesn't mean much. In others, this can make certain Pokémon not only an even match for their fully evolved forms, but surpass them. Let's take a look at some of those instances.

IOTW: Chesto Berry

Yo, Pokébros. Today we're going to be looking at the Chesto Berry. For those unfamiliar with the Chesto Berry, it wakens a Pokémon from sleep and then is used up.

Before we get into the Chesto Berry's main strategical uses, here are a few tidbits you might not know. When a Pokémon with a Chesto Berry uses Natural Gift, the move that changes depending on which berry is held, the result is a 60 power water move with 100% accuracy.

IOTW: Choice Band

Hey everybody. It's Travis. I've been a long time fan of It's Super Effective and Critical Hit, and I noticed that something was missing in the arsenal of returning articles on the website. That something was a discussion of Pokémon items. We have move and ability of the week already, so it just made sense to add in items. I will mostly focus on hold items and their relation to competitive battling, but I might talk about non-battle items at some point down the road.

This week we will be looking at Choice Band. Choice Band has the awesome ability to boost the user's attack by 50%. That way, you don't have to waste a few turns building up a swords dance or dragon dance to get your attack up. So why doesn't every physical sweeper and its grandmother have choice band?
