The 2016 Pokémon World Championships Kick Off on Friday

The 2016 Pokémon World Championships will be hosted in San Francisco from August 19-21. Due to an unprecedented response from invited players planning to attend, the event will be closed to the general public and entry to the venue will only be permitted with an official event badge for invited players and their families. The best way for fans to keep up with all of the 2016 Pokémon World Championship action is to tune in all week at www.pokemon.com/live. As we look forward to focusing the weekend on Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon video game competitors from over 30 countries, there will be no Pokémon GO events in or around the 2016 Pokémon World Championships.

At the 2016 Pokémon World Championships, hundreds of the world’s best Pokémon Trading Card Game and video game players will compete for the title of Pokémon World Champion and for a piece of a combined prize pool of more than $500,000 in scholarships and travel awards.
