PKMN of the Week: Mewtwo

This weeks Pokémon is Mewtwo! Whooo!

Mewtwo is highly skilled with Psychic powers. It can levitate through use of telekinesis, speak telepathically, and take control of another living being's mind. It is known for its powerful Shadow Ball and Aura Sphere. Mewtwo is also capable of wielding various types of attacks (but to a lesser extent than Mew). To exert its powerful psychic abilities, it will stay motionless for long periods of time in intense concentration to raise its capabilities to the maximum power.

In the anime, Mewtwo also has the ability to telekinetically create massive hurricanes thought to be powerful enough to destroy the planet and is constantly protected from harm inside a deflective sphere of psychic energy. Mewtwo has also stated it can block a Pokémon's special abilities in battle.

Mewtwo has the second highest Special Attack in the game, surpassed only by the Attack Forme of Deoxys.

Mewtwo and Lugia have the highest base stat total of all Psychic-types.

Mewtwo's name is a combination of Mew, referring to the Pokémon on which it was based, and two, indicating that it is a clone of Mew. It also sounds somewhat phonetically similar to the English word mutant.

PKMN of the Week: Steelix

Welcome to November!

This month we are going to kick it off with a Pokémon that weighs 881lbs.

Steelix is a dual-type Steel/Ground Pokémon.
It evolves from Onix via trade with a Metal Coat.

Steelix resemble giant iron snakes. They are a reflective, silvery gray, which reflects the sunlight making them shine slightly. They are about 30 feet long. Their body is made up of rock-like sections, some of which have massive rock spikes coming out of them. They have a massive head mainly made up of their jaw. The jaw is large and wide with sets of large square teeth inside. Along their bottom jaw are a pair of ridges (varies with gender). Their eye sockets are slightly set in, giving them good eye protection. Underneath their bottom jaw and chin, on the underside of the jaw, there are small square domes. Their heads have two long ridges going from the eyes up to the top of their heads. Their jaws also have massive ridges where they meet their skull.

The rock portions on their body start at the back of their head. There are three slightly larger sections that have the massive rock-like spikes coming out of them. The tail ends in a long sharp point, but with a blunt tip. Steelix's rock-like sections don't look perfect and can easily be mistaken for rocks, for they have many chips and scrapes all along them from fights and tunneling.

Fun Fact: Steelix is the second longest known Pokémon, surpassed in length only by Wailord.

PKMN of the Week: Duskull

Duskull, the ghost Pokémon
It evolves into Dusclops starting at level 37, who evolves into Dusknoir when traded holding a Reaper Cloth.

It's seems to be overlooked by other Ghost Pokémon... cough **Gengar** cough.

Duskull is styled after a traditional personification of Death, the Grim Reaper. It resembles a small hooded masked form in a black robe with a crossbones drawing on its back. In its "shiny" alternate coloring, its robe is curiously bright red, possibly inspired by the Devil. Its mask resembles the front of a skull. It also seems to have a single eye that floats between the eye sockets in its mask.

Fun Fact: Duskull is the only Pokémon with Levitate whose evolutions do not have the ability.

PKMN of the Week: Wooper

Wooper is a Water/Ground Pokémon.
It evolves into Quagsire starting at level 20.

Fun Fact: Although Wooper has no arms, it can still learn Ice Punch.

Wooper tend to be dull-witted Pokémon as implied in Trouble in Big Town. They tend to be oblivious to their surroundings. They also share this trait with their evolution Quagsire. Wooper lives in cold water most of the time, but it will on occasion leave the water to search for food when the temperature cools in the evening. While walking on land, it coats its body with a slimy, toxic film that keeps its skin from dehydrating and insulates itself against the cold. In the water, Wooper partially buries itself in the mud at the bottom to sleep.

Pokémon of the Week!

This week's Pokémon is... Bulbasaur

It evolves into Ivysaur starting at level 16, who evolves into Venusaur starting at level 32.

Bulbasaur is a reptilian creature that somewhat resembles a toad or a young dinosaur with a spotted blue-green hide. Its eyes are a bright red, but the most notable feature of this Pokémon is the onion-like bulb on its back. This bulb has a symbiotic relationship with the Pokémon, growing from a seed planted on its back by its mother at birth. Unlike the parasitic tochukaso mushrooms growing on the back of Paras, which eventually take over its body as it evolves into Parasect, Bulbasaur's bulb shares a symbiotic relationship beneficial for both. This allows Bulbasaur to get an enhanced boost of energy from the sun during the day and the bulb to remain growing and strong at night. The bulb also contains many seeds, from which it draws nutrients.

Though they usually walk on four legs, a Bulbasaur can rise up on its hind legs. When it evolves into Ivysaur, the bulb becomes a larger flower bud, and it loses this ability. This, in turn, causes Ivysaur and Venusaur to lose speed.
